I am an ISA certified arborist who has worked in the tree care industry since 2016.  I began my career with a small company outside of Shopiere, WI where I first discovered the fascinating world of tree care. My career then led me to Heartwood Tree Company of Madison, WI where I developed my skills as a climbing arborist, crew leader, and sales representative for nearly 5 years.  I also worked for several years with Mallon Tree Service of Evansville, WI where my relationship with owners Kyle and Emma Mallon began. I started my own company, Hillcrest Tree Care, in 2021.

Merging with Mallon Tree Service

When Mallon Tree Service reached out with a sale proposal in 2022, I felt it would be a great way to further my own company’s growth and align myself with their quality standard of tree care. Read the Mallons’ letter to learn more about the recent ownership transition.

Philosophy

I believe we must be good stewards of the earth we’ve been given, I am committed to providing the best tree care I can. I encourage others to keep their trees whenever possible, rather than having them removed.

Family

Over and above being a company owner, I am a follower of Jesus Christ, as well as a husband and a father.  My wife, Taylor, and I married in 2015, and we have four children together. We were both born and raised in Rock County (Taylor is from Clinton and I grew up in Beloit).

As a family we enjoy bike riding, four wheeling, and going for walks around our small hobby farm. I have always had a love for the outdoors, which began as a small child when I would spend time hunting, camping, and fishing with my father and grandfathers.

Arron Pratt

Certified Arborist WI-1530A

My career in tree care began in 2017 with Mallon Tree Service, where my friendship with Colton initially began. I strengthened my climbing and overall tree care experience with Heartwood Tree Care through 2021. After journeying outside of tree work for a short period of time, I made my way back into the industry alongside Hillcrest Tree Care.

First and foremost, I am a follower of Jesus Christ, as well as a husband and father of four children. Together, we own an organic farm where we raise beef, pork, and chicken. I enjoy hunting, foraging, teaching my children new things, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. My love for the outdoors stems from being a young child, spending as much time on my family farm as possible. Nature, trees, and wildlife have always been admirable to me, and I am fortunate enough to spend most of my time surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation.

Nathan Anderson

I started working in lawncare and landscaping at twelve years old and have always enjoyed being outside. After high school, I worked in taxidermy and at a medical parts company, both of which provided great learning experiences and challenges – and also made me realize I missed being outdoors.

When Colton approached me about the possibility of working with him, I was excited about the idea; I joined the team in February 2023. This has been a wonderful work experience and I love facing all the new challenges that arise. I have grown to see this opportunity for what it is: a way to serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, a way to serve my fellow Hillcrest co-workers, and a way to serve my community and friends. I am excited for the upcoming years and memories!

Outside of work, I enjoy playing the guitar, reading, and woodworking.

Aaron Hatlevig

I started working with the Hillcrest team in the tree service industry in April 2024. They welcomed me with open arms and teach me something new every day.

Before Hillcrest, I worked various jobs in the trades, including electrical work, well pump installation, and concrete. Growing up hunting and fishing has shaped my love for the outdoors. In my spare time I play home talent baseball, softball, fish, and enjoy time with my loved ones. I am excited to further my knowledge in arboriculture as a member of Hillcrest.

Zach Wiest

Certified Arborist WI-1577A

I am a proud follower of Jesus Christ! I love my wife and my three kids. I was in the fitness industry for a few years after college, but fell out of in 2017. By God's hand I landed my first tree job in Madison in 2018 and have been in the industry ever since. I love to work with my hands and I love the outdoors.

In my free time I can be found listening to a sermon, working on my house, hunting, fishing, camping, or wrestling and jamming to favorite tunes with my boys. In tree care, no two jobs are the same so I'm constantly being challenged and there is always something new to learn. I'm passionate about the preservation and conservation of trees, specifically planting and properly maintaining young trees.

Drew Jordahl

Drew joined Hillcrest in the late winter of 2025 and is excited to see how the Lord grows him in many avenues. He loves being helpful and to seek the good of others to the glory of God by grace (1 Corinthians 15:1-11).

You will find him working with the tree crew on some days and on others he will be working away in the wood shop. He has a background in finish Carpentry and a passion for woodworking, which has been vital to the growth of Hillcrest and our expansion into custom woodworking projects.

Andrea Pratt

I have recently joined Hillcrest Tree Care as a part-time position after stepping away from a career in the medical industry.  My goal when stepping away from my job was to slow down and spend as much time as possible with our young children.  While both serving God and being a stay-at-home mother, I am also blessed to be able to serve Hillcrest with different background projects aimed at aiding in efficiency for the team.

My greatest joy is raising my four children alongside my husband, Arron. Watching each of them grow and learn new things every day is beautiful and rewarding. We enjoy spending time on our farm together, including four-wheeler rides and trips to the creek. I find fulfillment being a homemaker, turning the same farm that I grew up on into a home for my own family.
